LLANHARRY WMC.& INSTITUTE- CHARITY & DONATION ACCOUNT

The club charity account  and donation account  supports  the local village community when ever it can. The charity account is organised by a number of lady members who run raffles and put on shows to raise money. Last year 2006,  computer equipment valued at £ 1.100 was  donated to Master Andrew Groves who  suffers from leukaemia  this cheered Andrew up no end it was a pleasure to see his smiling face.

In December 2006 Master Evan-Ray Denscombe   who is 3 years of age and is  suffering from Cerebral Palsy received a cheque for £ 2000. towards the cost of  rehabilitation therapy. The club would like to thank the ladies  for the efforts also the members who’s support in these projects is essential. ( see photo gallery )

The club on behalf of the members makes two donations every year  one of £500 to Llanharri Primary School  and a £ 500 donation goes to the local Horticultural Society to help with their Giant Vegetable Show. The club also makes small donations to various good causes when asked.

The Lost Certificate

The story goes like this:

About thirty years ago there was a  brawl in the club and the Club & Institute Union Certificate which at that time was given to clubs that  joined the union  was knocked off the  wall, the committee at that time did not put it back but stored it some place in the club.

It appears that the certificate disappeared  afterwards but nobody seems to have missed it. Thirty years later a doctor from the surgery next door to the club was attending a seminar In Aberdare which is about 20 miles away  when a fellow delegate called her one side and said  I understand that you are from the village of Llanharry  to which she replied yes he then said come to my car I have something for you, that something  as you may guess was the club certificate apparently it had been found in some attic in a premises in Aberdare.

That at the moment is all the information we  have it could well be that the person who nicked the certificate  may come forward if he or she reads this web page. If they do we will let you know.
